To be a good editor, you have to be organized, creative, dedicated, and responsible. Making a yearbook look good probably takes hours of work sorting through pictures and creating pages that look nice, not to mention organizing meetings and getting everyone to do their job. Actually, I’d love looking through pictures of all the fun things our students did throughout the year, and enjoy showing off the best ones in a yearbook even more. Yearbooks are for keeping your memories, after all. And since I’m in 8th grade and my little brother’s in 6th, I do know kids from the different grades and would make sure to include all of them, not just friends from my grade.
I’m constantly drawing, doodling, and coming up with ideas for books or new creatures. Creativity is no problem for me! I already have great ideas for this yearbook after looking through some older ones, and I can’t wait to see them be put to use. If I get to be editor, I’d use other people’s ideas, too. Of course I’d listen to everyone’s thoughts. Once all of our ideas for layouts and pages are put together, we’ll have a great book.
I’m usually very organized, especially in school. I have a special folder on my flash drive for yearbook pictures and I’d never miss a meeting, especially since I’d be one of the people making them. I’ve waited three years to join yearbook (wasn’t it only open to 8th grade before?) and I’m really excited to finally be on it. Also, I don’t have a sport after school to interfere with yearbook meetings, so yearbook comes first.
As for pictures, I’m asking for a new camera for my birthday in November and have recently gotten into photography more. I’ve decided to go to more school events as I’ve realized they can be really fun, and would be sure to bring the camera with me. That doesn’t change if I’m picked to be an editor; I’d still contribute to taking the pictures we need to have a great yearbook full of the best school memories.
