Re: Ant Me Sara Rae SS
Andrew Jackson had the insight to take down the Bank of the United States when he saw it as corrupt. He wanted equality from everyone to poor farmers to wealthy people. This is what America is built on. He tried to balance it out as well as he could, making him ideal to be on the $20 bill. All of the presidents before him did not see the bad side of the Bank, only the good side. Jackson was not afraid to make a few rich and powerful people mad to benefit the whole country. He realized that the few powerful people were not the majority of the U.S. so he didn't treat them that way. He did everything for the good of the common man, the majority of the U.S.
-Congress had a potential to become corrupt due to the Bank. They could have been paid off by rich merchants dependent on the Bank who needed it rechartered to vote for the Bank. Jackson did not want a Congress that the rich could just use however they wanted because of their money power. He wanted a government run by the people, not just the rich.
-The Bank made the wealthy wealthier and didn't give the poor, hard-working farmers a chance to catch up. If let continue, this would have created two different classes in the U.S. Jackson wanted equality, so this had to change.
-Lastly, the Bank was completely unfair. Both the poor and rich had to pay taxes. Some of both taxes went to the Bank. However, the poor never got their money back, and rich investors did. How is that right? It's like the poor's taxes are going straight to the rich's pockets. That was only speeding the divide between classes.
Jackson was smart enough to stop this injustice early enough that it wasn't a problem. He was a true people's man.

Re: Ant Me Sara Rae SS
I'm not losing this againI wrote:“He replaced Republican civil servants with Democrats, recycling the government jobs to increase the diversity of the government's political party populations, to provide a chance to most people to serve their country, and to prevent anyone from turning into a tyrant and abusing their power.”
Facts - AJ supported the rotation-in-office theory
- he replaced Republicans with Democrats, believing he prevented corruption in office
- to strengthen party loyalty, Jackson’s supporters gave posts to other Democrats
- by the end, Jackson had dismissed 20% of Federal civil servants
Point 1 - Prevents ‘corruption’ in civil servants.
- It prevents government workers from turning tyrannical by reducing the length of time the person is in the government
- Prevents anyone from becoming like King George III, the man we escaped from in the first place
-
Point 2 - Helped in ‘returning the power to the people’
- Jackson believed strongly in ensuring that the nation was run by ordinary people, not the rich, money-obsessed, spiffy folk.
- He wanted Democrats and his followers to be government officials, replacing many Republicans.
- Normally, most civil servants viewed their posts as lifetime
- It gave a chance for many, no matter rich or poor, to have a chance to run the country
- It also made the government more diverse in terms of political party.
- Most of the people dismissed deserved it, as they had committed crimes at some point
